Ice skating in Finland is not a leisure activity in the sense that leisure implies something apart from ordinary life. Frozen lakes, flooded outdoor rinks, harbour ice in the cities — between November and March the surface area available for skating is considerable, and Finns use it. The sentence on this shirt is not a complaint about the present situation. It is a statement of clear preference, the kind Finns make directly and without apology.

The shirt is made from organic cotton for anyone who likes the idea of wearing their love of Finland lightly. An honest gift for someone who counts the weeks until the ice firms up.

Made from 100% organic ring-spun cotton. Pre-shrunk, with a relaxed unisex fit. Printed using OEKO-TEX certified processes.

About Very Finnish Problems

VFP started as a joke shared between expats trying to explain Finland to the rest of the world. It grew into a community of 1.3 million people who get it — the silences, the saunas, the ruisleipa, and the very specific joy of being left alone in nature. Every design is created by Joel Willans, a Brit who's been living in Helsinki since 2002 and has had ample time to observe the Finnish condition up close.

If it made you laugh, you're one of us.
