Helsinki has a near-magical institution called lounas. It is the working-week lunch buffet served between roughly 11am and 2pm at thousands of restaurants across the country, designed for office workers, costing between €10 and €15 and almost always including soup, bread, salad, a hot main, water, milk (yes, milk), coffee and sometimes a bit of dessert. It is the single best food deal in Western Europe. Tourists do not know about it. Use it.
